Monteverde, Costa Rica – Monkeys at our Hostel
HOLYCOWS!! Just moments ago we were sitting around checking Facebook, when the receptionist at our hostel yells, “the monkeys are here” and sprinted to the kitchen. Aaron and I moved towards the window but she grabbed us and told us to follow her. Then she handed some cut up banana to Aaron and told him to feed them!! I am conflicted about feeding wild animals…but we did it. There was a whole family of them and two cute little babies. Their hands are just amazing! Another magical moment.
Just monkeying around?
Wow! So cool!
Wow! I would have fed them, too, even though I understand the conflict. They are just too darling. LOVE that you all are having these amazing experiences!
Hi Caroline! Thanks for the vote of support – we are having quite a time. Every night ends with something like, “Man, what a great day!” How wonderful is that? We are pretty thrilled at the moment. Thanks for following us and commenting.
So cute! Bring them back in your suitcase; I’ll feed them too!
Afraid we couldn’t get all the bananas through customs, so you’ll just have to come visit them here!
Great photos! What kind of monkeys are they? Is the rain forest their natural habitat? Are they native to Costa Rica? Details please!!
Thanks! They’re capuchin monkeys and I do believe they’re native. They certainly seem to be! 🙂
And may I ask who this is as I know it wasn’t me who made this comment since I took the photos! Regardless, glad to have you reading our blog.
Great see you having a great time! Looking forward seeing more pictures! Be safe!
Thanks, Shinya! We ARE having a great time! I’m writing right now from a beachside restaurant in between bus rides (Playa Dominical). Amazing! Tonight we’ll be in the small town of Sierpe and tomorrow we head to an off-the-beaten track area called Drake’s Bay (Bahia Drake). Supposed to have the best snorkeling in Costa Rica!
Hope all’s well at Green Lake!
