“LOOK! It’s a bridge!!!” Aaron would like a dollar every time I grab his arm and shout these words. Turns out there are a LOT of bridges is this world and I’ve grown to appreciate them all. It’s a hazard of my job, working on really huge engineering projects. We went for a walk in the UW nature area (in Seattle), which is along Lake Washington and happened to be within view of the construction of the new SR520 Bridge (the world’s longest floating bridge, if you’re curious…I can tell you more if you want). Aaron says, “Wow, look at that crane over there” and I say “Yeah! There’s four of them and that big one is called “The General“. Confused Aaron gives me a crazy-lady-look. “What? I didn’t name it!” Turns out, Aaron was looking at the bird just a few feet from us, while I was standing on my tip toes to see all the giant cranes on barges floating in the water. Hey…the way I see it, that walk had something for everyone! Regardless, this is no doubt what the trip will be like.
I’ll be scouting out cool engineering and Aaron will be scanning for amazing art from nature and artists alike. Together, there should be something for everyone and you can find it right here under Art & Engineering.
